U.S. Government’s Own Official Web Site Lists Vice President's Office As Part Of "Executive Branch"

By MARC McDONALD

So now Dick Cheney is claiming his office is not an "entity within the executive branch."

Hmmm, Cheney had better inform USA.gov, about this startling development. It seems they've been misleading the public.

And what is USA.gov, you might ask?

I'll let the site speak for itself:

"As the U.S. government's official Web portal, USA.gov makes it easy for the public to get U.S. government information and services on the Web."

USA.gov's "Federal Executive Branch," section includes information for the public about all the offices and departments that made up the Executive Branch. And right there, under the Executive Office of the President section is a helpful link to the Vice President's official home page.

Dick Cheney needs to get on the phone and inform the U.S. government's own official Web site that it is giving the public misleading information about his office.

    Clinton success as President.

    SKILLS.

He hired those who were skilled in their positions of responsiibility.

    He was expert in Governance.
It was a lifetime study for him.

I saw lack of skill while in business for forty years.

Lack of skill was a disaster for many of our largest firms.

    We bought many firms.

School teachers cannot manage complex manufcturing operations.

    Salesmen cannot.

Firms(usually) fail due to ONE person.CEO.

I have seen it many many times.

I admired Clinton's ability to evaluate and hire those who could get results using his policies.

Well put! I share your anger.

  4. Hi Red Hog,
Yes, I have no doubt about this. In fact, I think that behind closed doors, the Bush people even laugh at a lot of their own followers, particularly evangelicals and Rush-listening truck drivers. "Imagine a bunch of f*cking blue collar people supporting the likes of us!" they chortle, as they clink their champagne glasses and eat their $500-an-ounce caviar.

Calm down little people. Before you have a collective stroke, read the rest of the story.

This link will allow you to view a fact sheet on Rep. Waxman's website. He is a Democrat so he is totally trustworthy by default...just stay out of his freezer.

You will see there the source of the rabid claim that this silly blog entry discusses. The GAO is a relatively unimportant chair opportunity siezed by Waxman. It is a rogue committe on a mission to smear and embarrass the administration through baseless snooping. The witch hunt has been handily dispatched at every turn by Cheney based on the rule of law.

The footnotes in the document refer to some vague, misty letters from other partisan zealots, yet there is not a shred of evidence to support the accusation.

The claim that Cheney does not consider the VP office in the executive branch is unsupported. Assuming it is true, it should be taken in the context of the remainder of the information in the fact sheet. The information in the document actually makes the case for the VP, but does that appear anywhere in the news release or in this blog? Cheney is employing simple legal maneuvering to stop an out of control congressman from gaining access to national secrets for the purpose of advancing his political career.

Poor little sheep. You have been fooled again by rhetoric. The Constitution will be OK. I hope you will be able to sleep now.

Note to self: look up "mendacious."

  6. Thanks for enlightening us Anonymous. Could it perhaps be that, as poll numbers suggest, nearly three fourths of the citizens in this democracy have called for more transparency in government because they are fed up with the policies of this administration? The People have demanded more accountability out of the Bush adminsitration and they continually thumb their noses at us and continue with the policies that are not serving us in a manner which we have demanded. You claim, "Cheney is employing simple legal maneuvering" and I say we are excercizing our democratic rights to hold the never-served-in-the-military little war monger accountable for costing our nation thousands of lives, billions of dollars, credibility in the world and economic opportunity of the huddled masses. I will calm down when I am damn good and ready to calm down.

Yeah, it's a good thing that the Republicans always put the interests of the nation before partisan politics.

When the GOP controls Congress, they spend their time on responsible, productive tasks, (like spending 18 months and $50 million of the taxpayers' money to investigate a President's sex life).
