Deliver Us From Evil

.
Whenever I think about what George W. Bush and the NeoCons have done to America over the past seven years, I always think of this scene from Deliverance. Outside of Bush's rich and powerful cronies, we've all been screwed in Bush's America. Just as in Deliverance, I hope we can eventually kill off the NeoCon monster and bury it deep in the woods.

  1. An apt metaphor, but alas, the reality of Abu Ghraib and Gitmo are even more frightening.

  2. Hi Marc,
Yesterday I read an article that had been posted on HuffPo...I'm not sure when, but it's current. If you haven't read it, it's worth the time it takes. Here's the link:

My first reaction when I read this was, "Move over Keith Olbermann, there's a new kid on the block."

Did people in non flooded areas adjacent to flooded areas in Des Moines have their deputies turn back people who were trying to get out of the flooded areas at gunpoint? This happened at New Orleans when the City of Gretna police stood on the road into town and waited for those trying to leave the flooded areas. Was Blackwater sent into Des Moines to disarm the citizenry The difference was that aid was specifically blocked from New Orleans and the people left for a week without food and water so they would die.

Excellent points. Along with Blackwater & police coming around neighborhoods and disarming the "neighborhood watch groups" of their LEGAL weapons...

Also, when the starving in New Orleans "raided" food stores, it was called "looting". In a white, middle-class area it would be called "finding survival items"...

And don't you ever forget that the "evacuees" from New Orleans were saddled by the media with the term "refugees" - like, they came from another country...

And old beyotch Barb Bush visiting the Arena in Texas where people were stacked one-upon-the-other... and stating "they're so much better off than where they were before"... actual quote:

    Quote:
BUSH: THEY WERE UNDERPRIVILEGED, SO THIS IS WORKING VERY WELL FOR THEM
From Ryan Parry in New Orleans 7/09/2005

BUNGLING Barbara Bush yesterday claimed poverty-stricken refugees who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina are actually better off thanks to the devastating floods.

Just wait 'til it comes your way - expect as much empathy...

  5. It's been a long time since I saw "Deliverance," but as I remember it, right near the end, Jon Voight's character wakes up in a cold sweat after dreaming of a hand coming out of the water. So maybe we should go about dealing with these neocons some other way. How about we just round 'em up and ship 'em off the the Hague? A lot less messy that way, and easier on the conscience...
