Rand Paul Knows A Thing or Two About Boot Heels

By MARC McDONALD

Here's an interesting quote from Rand Paul that he made on May 20, 2010, in the aftermath of the BP oil spill disaster:

"What I don't like from the president's administration is this sort of, 'I'll put my boot heel on the throat of BP.' I think that sounds really un-American in his criticism of business."

Seems like Paul's campaign is the one who knows a thing or two about putting boot heels on people's throats. And he also knows a thing or two about what it is to be anti-American. (And what could be more anti-American than jackbooting a peaceful demonstrator at a political rally?)

Update: Now the wingnuts are trying to spin this incident to their advantage, claiming that MoveOn.org's Lauren Valle, the woman whose head was stomped was acting in a threatening manner and trying to "assault" Paul.

Let me see if I understand the wingnuts' point of view on this. A young peaceful woman carrying a sign at a political rally is to be feared. And yet, when the wingnuts carry assault rifles near the area where President Obama is giving a speech, they're just being peaceful folks who shouldn't alarm anyone.

Small, slender woman with a sign: dangerous, evil, threatening and bad.

Tea Baggers carrying assault rifles near President Obama: just peaceful, good folks who wouldn't hurt a flea. Nothing to see here, folks: move right along.

Yeah, right.

  2. Marc,
Excellent job in dredging up that hypocrital Rand Paul's words from last spring (which I had forgotten but now remember) aqnd flinging them right back at him. These far-right wackos who make up this astroturf Tea Party and now much of the ultra-conservative Republican Party are definitely akin to Hitler's brownshirts. They brandish the same intolerance, authoritarianism, brute force, and hatred as their 1930s predecessors. They are un-American and their claims of supporting the Constitution are a lie.

Those who held this woman down, grabbed her sign, and the man who stomped her head should all be indicted and successfully prosecuted and convicted for having actively and premeditatively depriving her of her free speech rights.

  3. Mark, thanks for dropping by Pruning Shears to comment. I've dropped a response there.

By the way, in light of the WikiLeaks dump you could probably move last Friday's post back to the top of the site with no loss of relevance.

This protestor was nothing more than a far-Left Liberal activist from the extreme radical Leftist group, MoveON. She was an agitator and she came to the rally looking for trouble--and she found it. Conservatives are not going to allow ourselves to be intimated by the Far Left Statists, who seek to undermine our nation.

  5. SJ of Random Thoughts assures that Brown Shirts like this "won't last." I wish I could believe that.

In Germany, they got power and lasted for over 12 years. And Germany in the early 1930s was arguably the most advanced country in the world, at least in many ways. I'm not so confident that they couldn't win serious and abusable power here.

I agree. To say they "won't last" is wishful thinking.
If anything, not only are they here to stay, but they are getting more extreme every year.
When Beck talks about killing Nancy Pelosi and Michael Moore, he's plumbing depths that not even the Pig-Man, Rush, has sunk to.
